Welcome to the Salvation Army Pakistan Territory Website
The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian Church. Its message is based on the Bible. Its ministry is motivated by the love of God. Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination.
In 1883, Captain Victoria Roberts accepted Commissioner Fredrick Booth-Tucker's request to start The Salvation Army work in Lahore. She went with two Lieutenants and a soldier and started preaching on the outside of the entrance of the Delhi Darwaza in Lahore.
Flooding in Pakistan
We are grateful for all of your prayer support and practical support for Pakistan.
As you are aware the monsoon's have caused floods throughout many areas of Pakistan, hitting especially hard in the north west. There are reports that well over 1,000 lives have been lost and the numbers are increasing daily with many still listed as missing. In excess of 20 million have been affected by this natural disaster.
The government of Pakistan is looking for help from the NGO's to assist with relief efforts. Our people have been doing some initial assessments and will continue gathering information on the work we will be able to do. We will also coordinate with government officials to fit in with providing assistance where it is needed and not duplicating a lot of services.
The DC in Islamabad and the the Corps Officers from Peshawar have identified at least 3,000 families in the areas of Peshawar, Charsada, Noshera, Jhanghira, Tar Nab, and Rasalpur. They are in dire need of food, cooking/eating utensils, and bedding materials.
