Global Overview of Programmes
Introductory notes
Here are links to the kinds of programmes, activities, outreach and training offered to women, through the Salvation Army worldwide. They should all be seen as tools to help towards achieving the soul-saving mission of the Army, whilst at the same time serving suffering humanity, and the spiritual results recorded annually indicate that this is so.
The information has been gleaned from reports sent to IHQ and may not be fully comprehensive. However it does give an idea of the wide range of activities engaged in and the opportunities offered to women for service – with appropriate training.
Women’s Ministries Programmes
Those listed are in addition to Home League, Junior Miss/League and other Women’s Ministries programmes as these are to some extent covered in every territory. Rallies and other similar events are also held globally.
General Courses and Information
Some of the topics listed here may not be ‘stand alone’ courses but take place as part of the Women’s Ministries gatherings and therefore may be a single lecture or speaker in a regular meeting.
Outreach/Aid
This includes any programmes that focus on women’s outreach into the community and therefore ‘visitation’ takes many forms.
Income generation
This section is dealing with assisting women or territories/commands to become self-supporting.
Leadership and other opportunities
It should also be noted that most of the programmes and courses mentioned in this document are run by women for women.
Leadership Development
Not all of the courses listed are solely for women but the list gives an overview of the opportunities offered. |
