High Council: Candidates for General Working on Written Answers to Questions

No sessions of the 2011 High Council were conducted on Thursday 27 January. This day was set aside for the candidates and, where applicable, their spouses to compile written answers to the list of questions presented to them by the High Council.
The council members are deeply grateful for the many expressions of prayerful support from all around the world through letters, email and social networking sites.
Two-thirds of all traffic on the Salvation Army’s international headquarters (IHQ) website www.salvationarmy.org is related to the 2011 High Council.
In the past three-and-a-half days there have been 103,000 visits to the IHQ site. Prior to the High Council around 60,000 visits occurred each seven days.
The video of the Welcome to the High Council and Retirement Salute to General Shaw Clifton and Commissioner Helen Clifton had been accessed by more than 20,000 individual computers by 9am GMT today. The number of actual viewers cannot be estimated but High Council members have been informed that in many places the meeting has been watched by groups of people.
Increasing numbers of people are following the news reports of the High Council through Facebook and Twitter. More than 2,000 have visited the High Council Facebook page and 650 are keeping up to date through Twitter. More than 3,000 people are receiving emailed news alerts.
The largest numbers of Facebook followers are in the 35-44 (27%) and 18-24 (24%) age groups with the 25-34 (20%) grouping close behind.
More than 2,000 people have viewed the High Council photos on Facebook and almost 3,000 people have seen them directly on the High Council Flickr website.
High Council President Commissioner James Knaggs has asked for Salvationists and friends of the Army to be at one with the High Council members in seeking the will of God as the council works towards the election of The Salvation Army’s nineteenth General.
