National Disaster Training Program (NDTP)

Through the generosity of an endowment fund, The Salvation Army has developed a full and very detailed training program, the National Disaster Training Program (NDTP).  It consists of three levels, covering the diverse service potential of our agency. The curriculum is listed as follows:

Introductory Training Courses:

  • Introduction to The Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Services (Required)
  • Foundations of Emotional and Spiritual Care
  • Disaster Food Service: Handling and Delivery
  • Preparing Your Congregation for Disaster

Intermediate Training Courses:

  • Incident Command System
  • Public Information Officer
  • Liaison Officer
  • Safety Officer: Safety and Security Issues in Disaster Operations
  • Donations, Warehouse and Distribution Center Management in Disaster Operations
  • Disaster Food Service: Operations and ManagementTraining
  • Disaster Shelter Operations and Management
  • Disaster Social Services
  • Communications in Disaster Operations
  • Finance and Administration in Disaster Operations
  • Disaster Volunteer Management
  • Logistics

Advanced Training Courses:

  • Disaster Response and Recovery Planning
  • Emotional and Spiritual Care in Disasters
  • Disaster Management

 

Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM)

CISM is a comprehensive, integrative, multicomponent crisis intervention system. CISM consists of multiple crisis intervention components, which functionally span the entire temporal spectrum of a crisis. CISM interventions range from the pre-crisis phase through the acute crisis phase, and into the post-crisis phase.

  • Group Crisis Intervention
  • Individual Crisis Intervention and Peer Support
  • Individual Crisis Intervention and Peer Support & Group Crisis Intervention
  • Emotional and Spiritual Care in Disasters

  • IMS 100 - Introduction to Incident Management System (Emergency Management Ontario)
  • IMS 200 - Basic Incident Management System (Emergency Management Ontario)
  • EM 200 - Basic Emergency Management (Emergency Management Ontario)

The Ontario Great Lakes Division has 5 qualified trainers.  If you wish to host a training opportunity, please fill-out the "Training Request Form" below and submit to the Divisional EDS office.
